What Is Nehemiah Kids? (N.K.)

Nehemiah was the cupbearer at the court of King Artaxerxes. Before Nehemiah became a leader of the people of Israel, he was a servant to the king. He served the king faithfully. As a result of his faithfulness, the king allowed Nehemiah to leave his service and return to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall of the city. Nehemiah became one of the great leaders of his time because he followed God’s plan for his life. Nehemiah Kids is ministry with a purpose. The objective is to see boys and girls grow in their walk of faith through spiritual disciplines and ministry involvement and to support families in the process of discipling their children.

Nehemiah Kids is a discipleship ministry for children in the first through fourth grades. Through this ministry, adult leaders work with the children to:

  •    - lead any of them who are lost to a saving knowledge of Christ
  •    - help them discover their identity in Christ
  •    - disciple them in spiritual disciplines
  •    - equip them for sharing the Gospel and doing ministry
  •    - help them find places of service in the church and in the community
  •

There are two primary components of Nehemiah Kids: Disciple Groups (small group time) and Ministry Training.

1Disciple Groups At the weekly meetings, the Disciple Group leader reviews what the children have studied during the week and helps them apply what they have learned the past week. The leader teaches their group how to pray, how to share their faith, and much more. The students learn spiritual disciplines as they grow in their faith in Christ.

4Ministry Training Nehemiah Kids is committed to equip and train children for ministry. Part of the fun and appeal for children is ministry training time during the program. Ministry training can consist of many ministry training opportunities for children.
